What Obama could not have expected was a response from Netanyahu that was so complete, so strong and so statesman-like that the entire world would stand up and take notice.  Netanyahu demonstrated, calmly and with total clarity, that the return to the “indefensible” borders of 1967 would never happen; that the Jewish State would be independent of land for a “Palestinian State.”  Further, he made clear to the world that Hamas was the “Palestinian version of Al-Queda.”

A blow by blow of Obama’s speech can be found here.  The quick take away is that Obama is creating US policy that would force Israel to make concessions without the Palestinians making any concessions, and would provide no disincentive for Iran not to continue funding of Hamas and Hezbolla as they continue to kill Israelis.

Yet I found myself in just that position.  How could Obama take a moment that could have (should have) united a country, reminded it of the greatness of our own ethic – that we never give up, we never falter, we never fail when united – and turn it into political derision?  How could the Administration not get their story straight, fail to be honest, then be willing to spend more time worried about how the body of a murderous bastard gets a proper Islamic funeral than bringing the families of the victims of 9/11 the slightest bit of closure?

In all seriousness, the failure to release the photos is emblematic of the culture of mis-trust that President Obama, and his administration, have fostered in the United States and around the world.  While a burial at sea for Bin Laden was the right maneuver, (as it prevents Bin Laden’s burial place from becoming a shrine) there should have been time given for many experts and world leaders to see the body so they could report back to their people and confirm the death of Bin Laden.  As conspiracy theories grow on this subject, remember that Obama created them.  As people grow more distrustful of Obama and of government, remember that Obama instigates that distrust.

The death of Bin Laden may indeed unify the country.  Certainly, there can be no doubt that our military is the best in the world.  That Navy Seals may be the toughest men on earth.  And I would be remiss to not say “well done” to President Obama for allowing the operation to commence.  It is a sentiment that has been expressed by near everyone across the nation.

Yet, how can I believe the unifying of the nation will last?  I would love it to.  I would love to be able to see the country move forward in the recognition that there are evil people who must be dealt with, that America is exceptional, that freedom and liberty are better than tyranny, that the American ethic of never give up, of personal responsibility, of love of country would become the watchwords of the nation.

But the real world stops for no one.  Even in the President’s address to the nation, I found his words to ring somewhat…not hollow, but shallow.  It was about him, not about the troops.  It was about him, not about the nation.  I will be watching it many more times over the next few days, analyzing it.  And it is stunning how stark the contrast is between his words and those of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.  I am not a fan of hers, nor her policies, but her speech on Monday morning was, in a word, presidential. It was a speech that extolled the strength of the military, the greatness of the American people and that we are an exceptional nation.

And soon, the feeling of some type of closure will subside, and the realities of a nation will resume.  We are a great nation, and I love this country.  But we are a nation in massive debt, a nation that refuses to protect its borders, a nation that is moving too far to the left via Obamacare and the Dodd-Frank legislation.  Bin Laden is dead, and I hope it means the nearby end of terrorism, but it changes nothing about the reality of our nation and the election of 2012.

During the conversation, Contessa made mention of the popular meme that people are obsessed with the birth certificate because of race.  As the left sees it, if Obama was white then no one would care about his birth certificate.

I then countered with a thesis of my own, which is wholly based on their magnificently erroneous assumption.  If those who question the birth certificate are crazy, and if those who want more information are conspiracy theorists, and if there are those who are completely consumed with Obama’s birthplace, then you could replace the birth certificate with something else and see if the same rules apply.

Thus, I coined the term “Race-ers.”  Race-ers are those people who are completely consumed with race. They are the ones who believe that any opposition to Obama, his policies or him personally, is solely based on the racism of the opponent.  As political correctness exists only to silence opposition, the Race-er uses racism to silence their opposition.  Further, the Race-er sees racism everywhere.  Nothing can be judged on its merits, as the merits (for the Race-er) are simply insignificant.  My colleague at Pajamas Media picked up on this in an article he wrote yesterday.

After the election of Obama, the Main Stream Media spoke in wonderful prose: A black president in America!  Racism is over!  Who knew it would be Obama, and that same Main Stream Media, that would not only keep it alive, but encourage its use as a vicious weapon against free speech and political dissent?
